A brief Introduction of our Faculty


MRS. FAIROZA GHAFFAR-(First Assistant)Experienced Primary School teacher. Academic Supervisor and Coordinator from KG-I to grade III, also teaching subjects: English, and Islamic Studies in Grade I. Started teaching career in 1984 as a Primary School Teacher at Islamia English School, Abu Dhabi,serving for a period of 10 years and continued to serve same school in the capacity of Assistant Incharge of the Primary section. Has had a sound educational background topping her batch at the final year at  college.  Excelled in the field of extra curricular activities including drama and singing.  Hobbies include reading and travelling.
 
 

MR. ESSAM MOHAMMED TAUFIQUE HASSAN -(Supervisor)B.A., in Arabic Literature  from Tanta University in Egypt.  Teaching Arabic to IGCSE and other senior classes. Other experience includes four years teaching Arabic language in Egypt and United Arab Emirates to Preparatory and Secondary level students, from 1994-1998.  Started teaching career at El Ibrahimi Private school in Egypt and served the institution for two years.
 


 

MR. K.K. JAMES :(Supervisor)B.Sc., M.Ed., D.B.A. Teaching Chemistry to grade X to XI. Co-ordinator for IGCSE exams. Academic Supervisor for grades IV-XI. Started teaching career at Holy Cross Higher Secondary School and for a brief period also worked as its vice-principal. Served for one of the prestigious institutions of India, “ Bishop Cotton School,” Bangalore, India as Chemistry teacher. Closely associated with the council for ICSE as Co-Chief Examiner for many years. Won the Rev. Foulger Prize in B. Ed. and M.Ed. at Meston College, Madras. Hobbies include, swimming, reading, and listening to music.
 
 

MR. SAMUEL EMANUEL :M. A. English, B. Ed.  Teaching English VII to XI. Class teacher of grade VIII B. He began his public life as a Religious Brother with the Missionaries of Charity and worked along with the World-Famed Late Mother Teresa. Joined the teaching profession in 1972 and taught at Notre Dame Academy, Munger Bihar, India and St. Michael’s High School Patna, India and was also its founder principal for 20 years. He last taught English to senior Classes in Army School, Danapur Cantonment, Patna, India from where he joined Al Rayyan National (Pvt) School, Abu Dhabi. He is due to be awarded Doctorate, shortly. He has a keen interest in Dramatics and is gifted with acting and directing plays and conducting elocution and debates.

MR. MOHAMMED KHALID SIDDIQUI :B.Sc. Honors, M.Sc. (Applied Mathematics), B. Ed. Teaching Mathematics to grades VII to XI. Class teacher of VII-B. Started teaching career at Shaheen Public School, Karachi, Pakistan in the year 1992. Joined Hamdard College of Science, Karachi, Pakistan in 1993 and continued working there until 1999 before joining Al Rayyan National (Pvt.) School, Abu Dhabi. Hobbies include reading Urdu Literature and Urdu Poetry.

 
 
 

MRS. RAZIA SHAHBAZ :M. A.  Economics, B. A., B. Ed. with advanced Urdu. Teaching Urdu in grades II-III and in classes VI to XI.  Started her career in 1974 as teacher in Karachi, Pakistan with Hashmat Wahidi English, School, serving there for a period of 10 years. Served Islamia English School in Abu Dhabi from 1989 through 1996, teaching “O” level and college classes. Served with Al Rayyan School for a brief period of two years from 1989 to 1996 and again joined in 1999.
 
 

MRS. ANUBHA ARORA :M.Sc. (Maths, B.Ed. A postgraduate in Mathematics and a B.Ed from Delhi University and a rank holder for the same. She started her teaching career under the principalship of Dr. Singha (Ex-Chairman CBSE). After that she taught Mathematics for six years in Kendriya Vidyalaya to Grades VI to X. She has also taught Mathematics to higher grades in Abu Dhabi schools following British curriculum. Class Teacher of Grade XI A and teaches Mathematics to Grades : VIII to XI. 
 
 

MR. SAHEB ASIF MOHAMMED :B.Com( Bombay University), D.C.P.  Class Teacher of Grade XI B.  Teaching Computer Studies to Gr. IX - XI.  Started teaching career at Patkar College, Goregaon, Mumbai, India in the year 1990. Worked as a Course co-ordinator cum Computer Programmer for one of the reputed Govt. Recognized Computer Institutes at Kandivli, Mumbai, India for the last 7 years and also worked with S.N.D.T. College, Santacruz, Mumbai, India as a Visiting Faculty for Computer Studies. Area of interest - Computer Programming, Networking and Computer Hardware. Hobbies includes reading, listening to music and sports. 
 

MR.THOMAS MATHEW : M.Sc. (Physics) APGDCA. Graduation in Science and Post Graduation in Physics completed from Govt. MVAM, Barkatullah Univeristy , Bhopal (M.P.India). Stood first in the order of merit at the M.Sc. examination. Was Professor of Physics at the Extol Institute of Management before joining Al Rayyan School in the academic session of 2002-03 as Teacher of Physics. Currently holding the Class Teacher’s responsibility for Grade IX B and teaching Physics to the students from Grade IX to Grade XI. Hobbies are reading books, listening  to music, talking to own self and enjoying beauty of nature.
 
 

MRS. ANITA MAITRA :M.A. (English), B.Ed. Started teaching career in North India and taught senior classes for ten years in some reputed institutions of higher learning. Joined Al Rayyan in October, '99. Has been teaching English & Social Studies to Middle and Senior school classes. Was Coordinator for teaching of English in grades IV to VII for a brief period. Likes listening to music, reading and photography. Class teacher of grade VIII A.
 
 

DR. IBRAHIM BABY SHAIKILA :M. Sc., M. Phil, B. Ed., Ph.D.: Teaching Biology to IXto XI .  Class teacher of X-A. Started career in research as a Senior Research Fellow in the "US Department of Agriculture" sponsored project at Coimbatore, India. Received the award of the senior Research Fellow from the council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi, India. Received her Ph.D. in Zoology in 1998. First venture teaching out of India was in Majeediyya School, Maldives. Also worked as Lecturer in Zoology at M.E.S. College, Poonani, Kerala, India. Had good administrative experience  working as the Deputy Director for the M.E.S for C.B.S.E. Hobbies: Reading and listening to music.

MRS. AMANI FAROOK :Graduate from Alexandria University / Bachelor of Communication and Information. Started teaching career at Ashgate  Manor School in Abu Dhabi in the year 1995,  and then taught in Al Manhal School .  Now teaching Arabic,  and  Tarbia Islamia from gradeVIII to grade XI .  Hobbies include reading, painting and swimming.
 
 

MRS. AMAL AL JBOUR :Holds Bachelors degree in Arabic and Tarbia Islamia from Jordon. Started her teaching career in Jordon at the "Ideal School" in 1990. After working for six years in the same school she shifted to a government school where she worked for a year before coming to Abu Dhabi. Teaching Arabic MT to classes I to VII.
 
 
 

MRS. CHARLOTTE BANKOTKAR :M.A. (English), B.Ed. Teaching English and Social Studies to grades IV, V and VII. Class teacher of IV-B. Started teaching career in the year 1990 and taught in two reputed schools of Bombay before joining Al Rayyan in the year 1997. Interests include Dramatics, Elocution and Singing.
 
 
 

MR. SYED MOHAMMED ABDULLA :M.P.E. from Aligarh Muslim University in India. Teaching Physical Education  to grades IV to XI. Also teaches Computer Studies to grade IV ,VI and Physics to Grade VIII. Started coaching career in Taekwondo in 1992 under the Taekwondo Federation of India. Trained children at the state and national levels. IInd Dan Belt from WTF, South Korea. National refree, TFI. Taught in reputed schools of India for three years. Likes making electronic models, listening to  music and travelling.
 
 
 

MRS.REEJA VARGHESE :B.SC.(Maths, Physics & Electronics) from Bangalore University, India. and Advanced diploma in Network Centered computing from NIIT. Started her career in 1991 as Mathematics & Physics teacher for grade VII to IX at CBSE school in Bangalore. In 1995 she joined a leading computer Training Institute in Bangalore as Academic Coordinator, to manage computer education programmes at several schools. Joined Al Rayyan National (Pvt) School, Abu Dhabi in 2002 as Mathematics Teacher for grade V-VII. She is the Class teacher of grade V A. She enjoys reading, cooking and listening to music.
 

MISS HOVIEYEH ASGAR POONAWALA :B.Sc., B.Ed. Class teacher of grade III-A. Teaching  subjects Mathematics and Science  to grades III and IV. Started teaching career in the year 1991 and since then has taught in two reputed schools in India. Had a good educational career at the university passing with distinction  at all levels. Hobbies include reading, elocution, debates and trekking. 
 
 
 

MRS. HELEN AMBROSE :Diploma in Teacher’s Training and modern Mathematics.  Class teacher of KG-I. Served in two reputed schools in India. Started teaching career at Lady Engineer High school in 1977. Served for 12 years at  Christ Church School, Bombay. Enjoys reading, classical movies, embroidery and cooking. 
 
 
 

MRS. FAWZIA EL SAYEED :A Bachelors degree from Ain shams University, Egypt. Started her teaching career as French teacher with the Ministry of Education, Egypt, in 1980. Worked there for four years and then moved to UAE in 1984. Prior to joining Al Rayyan she had already put in eight years of teaching service in a couple of Abu Dhabi schools teaching French and Arabic.
 
 

MRS. RINA ALMEIDA :M.A. (Eng.) ,B. Ed. Teaching English and Social Studies to grades V-VIII. Class teacher of grade V-B . Started teaching career in 1975. For almost 23 years taught in two reputed schools in India. Also served as Headmistress for five years. Contributed yeoman services in the field of co-curricular activities; edited school magazines, organised dramatics and elocutions. An active member of the Lions International, an ex-jaycee and a professional compere. Personal interests include intensive non-fictional reading, gardening, cooking and choreography.
 

MRS. KALPANA RAJA :An Economics graduate from the Madras University, India. Started her career as a teacher in a Pakistani School in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.  Later on joined the Riyadh International Public School as an Upper Kindergarten teacher for about one and a half years. She enjoys this profession. Class teacher of KG-II.
 
 
 

MRS. NAYEEM ZAIDI SHAH BUKHARI :B.A., B.Ed. Her love for teaching drew her to this profession. After completing her T.T.C. started her career in “Frank Anthony School” Calcutta, India, taught for 5 years. Then she shifted to New Delhi, worked as a coordinator in Anglo-Arabic Primary School for one year. She has participated in dramas, quiz, debates, and sports. Her hobbies include-reading, writing and painting. Class teacher of I-B.
 
 

MRS. FAREENA HAFEEL : A qualified and trained teacher in Montessori Education and Pre-School teaching. Specialised in child Psychology and has a diploma in Computer Studies. Presently class teacher of grade II-A. Has taught British syllabus in schools in Colombo and Abu Dhabi. Interests are browsing the web, writing poetry and painting.
 
 
 

MISS MANAL ABDUL RAHIM :A bachelor of science with seven years experience of teaching in private schools in Egypt.  Teaches Arabic NMT to grades KGII to IV and Tarbia Islamia to grades KG to II. Interests are reading and sports.
 
 
 
 

MRS. AFROSE ASHRAF :B.A. Teaching Bengali to all grades.  Started teaching career at Al Rayyan School in the year 1997.  Love for teaching prompted her to take up the present job.  Hobbies include reading and improving her culinary skills.
 
 
 
 
 

MRS. AFNAN NAEEM :M.Sc. in Home Economics related Arts. Taught as a lecturer in college of Home Economics Lahore for five years. Also worked as a junior school teacher both in Lahore and Abu Dhabi for nearly eight years. Joined Al Rayyan School in 2002. Class Teacher of II B teaching science, Social studies, Islamic Studies and Urdu to grades KG II – II.
 
 

RAMYA HETTIARACHCHI :B. Sc. Teaching Sinhala to classes KG II to VII. Taught in a leading school in Colombo before joining Al Rayyan in 2000. Hobbies include reading and listening to Music.

MS. SOFIA IMRAN :Bachelor of Computer Science from National University of Computers and Emerging Science. Secured  cent percent in mathematics in Higher Secondary school. Worked in Karachi  for one and a half years. Likes teaching mathematics, Science and Computer studies. Was the finalist of Genius 2003 and got YSB( Youth and Sports Board) Green Achievement Award in Education for the year 2000-2001
 
 

MR. IFTIKHAR HUSSAIN : B.Com. , M.A. in English Literature and Language. Served as a teacher  for more than twenty years.  Inculcated the feelings of learning through various activities like debates & dramatics.  Used to give tips to the students on sports  to make them a better sportsman.  Likes to sing and act which is very helpful in  teaching. Taught Commerce subjects as well as Financial Accounting & Economics.
 
 
 

MRS. SABIHA MAHJABEEN:(Physical Education Teacher)B.Sc., B.P.Ed.,M.P.Ed. Worked in Islamia English School for 12 years., Undergone Basic and Advanced training courses in scouting from the Ministry of Education , Abu Dhabi. Sectional Advisory committee member, member of the school calendar committee, Leader of Girl Guides / Brownies, Co-ordinator for sports and co-curricular activities, Incharge of Red Crescent Group (Girls)


 

MRS. JUHI VAHID ALI :)B.Sc.,M.C.M, Proffesional course of Java -2. Class Teacher of Grade VII A. Teaching Computer studies to the students of grade IV- VIII.  Served 7 years as a Computer Teacher in Colleges and High Schools.  Likes painting and reading.
